Day 7—Week One Completed!

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV84)
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Today we will wrap up week one of 21 Days of Prayer by summarizing and reviewing what we’ve learned this week.

Day 1—Like most of God’s promises, the promise God made in 2 Chronicles 7:14 to hear from heaven and heal our land is conditional upon our taking specific action. In this case the conditions are our humility, earnest prayer, seeking his presence, and true repentance. Whatever promise you are believing God to fulfill, search the scripture and make sure you’re meeting all the conditions required for that promise to be fulfilled.

Day 2— Three things to consider—1. We’re apt to have pride in four areas: spirituality, knowledge, appearance, and power. 2. Regardless of what stronghold is in your life, there’s a very good chance that pride is at or near the center of it, and there’s no way to freedom without humbling yourself. 3. Fasting something you love (food, entertainment, comfort, etc.) helps expose and disarm pride.

Day 3—Earnest, serious prayer is very effective! Remember the four directions of prayer—toward God with our worship and petitions, toward the problem as we “speak to the mountains” in our lives, toward the enemy in spiritual warfare, and towards ourselves in confessions that we are who God says we are.

Day 4—Seek his face; let’s express to God that we don’t want to go any further in our lives without his manifest presence! Don’t hesitate to cry out in desperation to God for his presence!

Day 5—Repentance means a change of heart and mind that results in our turning our lives in another direction.

Day 6—False repentance occurs when we are grieved only because of the painful consequences of our wrongdoing. True repentance is a work of the Holy Spirit that brings brokenness and a change of heart, in addition to a change in direction.

Let’s finish our first week of this 21 Days of Prayer by praying once more through the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14, and believe that God will hear from heaven and heal our land!
